Little update on me
Tonya's comment reminded me I should probably post an update on things around here.
Thanks for checking on me, Tonya!
So far, the A mbien helps me fall asleep and allows me at least five hours of sleep. I'm not staying asleep the full seven to eight hours it recommends, but five hours at a time is much better than two at a time! I'm feeling a little groggy first thing in the morning but am much more functional during the day than I have been over the past few months, so I'm not complaining.
Last Thursday I had the great pleasure of being a guest on Spouse Buzz's Blog Talk Radio. I was a co-guest with a lovely lady named Elaine for a show titled 'A Journey Through Time.' Elaine was a Vietnam War era spouse and had some very touching things to say about life in that volatile time. I was quite humbled to be on air with her and it was a poignant reminder of the differences in our generations. The similarities were equally as poignant; some things just don’t change. Give the show a listen if you have some time, and please pardon my dogs in the beginning! I KNEW they would make a noisy appearance and of course, as soon as I had an open line, they started barking.
Let's see, what else is new?
I finished painting the living room. I had to go back to Lowe's and have them tweak the color after painting two walls and do additional coats to correct it, but now I love it. If I can just get the itty bitty stubborn strips of tape off the molding I'll be happy.
I did my first official home decorating shopping trip with K yesterday. I found some fabulous deals and have a better perspective as to how I want to decorate now. Speaking of decorating, our new fireplace mantel and surround came in today (Our builders just put dark gray stone around the fireplace, no mantel). Unfortunately we don't own any power tools and the frame is both too wide and too tall, meaning I have to cut it down somehow. I think a friend and her hubby are going to come over in the next couple of weeks and help me, for which I am extremely grateful! Thanks J!
The puppy didn't make a mess while I was gone yesterday, which I hope is progress. I've started only feeding him in the evenings so that he only potties before bed and first thing in the morning. Maybe it'll help, we'll see. He did bend the kennel even more during his freak out session when I left, so it's now padlocked in two places to keep it together.
I wish I had a better way to ease his anxiety but I'll take what I can get.
I think that's about it for now. How about all of you? How is life in your part of the world?

The redecorating sounds like its keeping your mind occupied as well. Its always good to find something else to obsess over.

On another note, I told you about Calms Forte by Hylands to help you sleep. (You can find it at Walmart or a natural foods/vitamins store.) This is homeopathic and completely natural, safe enough to give to infants and... animals!
Go get some and drop one in the pup's mouth about 15 minutes before you have to leave. You could even put it in his water. It may not make him sleep but it will allow him to calm down and not be so anxious. It has chamomille in it - great for calming anxiety and nervous stomachs!
Just a thought. Thanks for keeping in touch and lots of support!
