How I spent my Valentine's Day

I was in tears off and on all day. Sometimes regarding my own situation, but more often rejoicing in someone else's.

My husband and I have yet to spend a Valentine's Day together. He came through the second year in a row with a very sentimental and tear inspiring gift. I don't know how I got so lucky as to be his wife but I am so very grateful for him. Thank you, my love. I can't tell you how much it meant to me and I cannot wait to have you home.

This evening was not spent on the couch alone, but instead watching a close friend anticipate the return of her husband. I saw her nerves, her restlessness, and finally her excitement as they embraced once again. The tears streamed down my face as I grinned from ear to ear and tried to capture their moment in mere pixels.

The past year could not have been easy for K. She raised an infant and a pre-teen boy essentially alone for nearly 13 months. I am so proud of her and only hope I can live up to the standard she set when my time as a single parent comes around. K, you made it honey. I hope you're enjoying every single second with your wonderful husband. :sneakyhug
