Phone calls

My home phone just rang.

I looked at the caller ID and it said "United States Govt" and was a local number.

My heart all but stopped.

:thud:

I answered the phone before I could over-think it and was greeted with "Mrs. ****?"

I. Could. Not. Breathe.

My contacts and glasses have evidently come in at the optical center.

:thud:

I mean, really? They couldn't put 'OPTICAL' somewhere in that caller ID listing? My husband is in a combat zone and they all but gave me a heart attack! :wait:

AAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!

I would have fallen over.

My husband's command did this to me once. They were having a hurricane drill. I wanted to jump through the phone and strangle the poor petty officer on the other line.

I was seriously freaking out as I read this post. Seems like they'd be able to fit something like that... as important as it is... in there somehow!

Adam's Mom had that happen(Adam's brother just got home from Kuwait, Adam has another 3 months) only it was a RECRUITER calling to ask if there were any males over 18 in the house. She said,"NO! YOU HAVE ALL THE SONS OVER 18 THAT I HAVE!" She said, I got some 7 year olds, do you take those? She wasn't mad at the recruiter she said he was just doing his job, but my God, couldn't they be a little more sensitive? Sheez, she is nicer than I am.

I would have freaked too! When my DH was deployed, I was at my MIL for a visit, the phone rings and it says Red Cross on there. I almost didn't answer it. When I picked it up, it was his aunt calling from her volunteer desk - freaked me out!!! I am very glad that it wasn't anything distressing!!
