She Who Waits
Who exactly is she?

Among other definitions, I am someone who has fallen head over heels for a Marine infantryman. I am a portrait photographer, chocolate addict, wine lover, sometimes writer, dog lover, and oh yeah, a military spouse too.

This blog was started as a personal outlet while the aforementioned Marine was deployed to Iraq very early in our dating relationship. I decided to continue posting periodically after he made it safely home. Three months into our marriage he returned to Iraq for another tour, and I continued to write. After he returned home we encountered two PCS moves in 7 months and another year long trip to Iraq for him, so I figured I'd just keep blogging and hang on for this crazy ride!
Another deployment and a cancer diagnosis later and I'm still writing, often just as an outlet for the crazy stuff the goes through my head.

The something else.

Remember the something else I mentioned a couple of posts ago? The one not at all appealing to either of us? Of course, that's what he got stuck with.

I won't go into detail for OPSEC/PERSEC sake, but it means a year deployment, plus a 3-4 month workup immediately prior. We were told it would be a regular 7 month deployment when we got the first set of orders and even for the subsequent two assignments, so this is proving to be quite an adjustment. :'( DH isn't happy with the assignment, I'm certainly not, and that makes for an unhappy household.

Closing on the new house, moving into it without him, and trying to sell the old house without being on the mortgage/title should be fun. :**:

Urgh!!!!!! That makes me so angry for you. We're in a somewhat similar situation where DH was told one thing and then a completely different, unappealing thing is happening. DH was getting out of the Marine Corps last Dec. Like you, my DH is also Infantry, so it is a highly deployable job (although many are nowadays). He was given a NON-DEPLOYABLE job that sounded great, so he extended his contract. We just found out that he is DEPLOYING in less than a month. WTF?!? Had we known this we would NOT have moved to a place where I cannot find work, we don't have family or friends, and we just bought a house. Grrr! Isn't there someone out there with a heart and who cares about keeping their 'word?' I mean, this will be his 4th deployment since 2005! We can do it. God will get us through it (again), but darnit I don't WANT to deal with this crap! :fit:

You did such a great job on the other house getting it ready and then you leave and come back and now and a whole other house to move into and make a home without him... :fit:
