I put a bunch of those cinnamon sticks in his stocking box last year as well as a bunch of mini candy canes. I wanted to give him some things that would remind him of Christmas at home: smells, drinks (sent some hot chocolate), tastes, etc.

What about little mini size hand lotions or toiletries? A small wallet size photo frame with a picture of you & the pups in it? I just had a bunch of other ideas but totally lost them - but this may help, even if a little?

Hang in there hon - Jan will creep up before you know it!! *hugs*

Go to Party City. I had the most fun shopping for stuff for care packages there. I remember around 4 July sending all sorts of packets of hackey sacks and patriot stuff for the office. He passed out all of that to his fellow soldiers and they loved it. I have no doubt that there will be plenty to choose from for Christmas too.

Oh how I miss sending care packages...

Hope you're hangin' in there. I know the lack of communication is frustrating. Been thinking of you. Stay strong sweetie.

Marines love their Gatorade powder. Those little packs of toilet paper, or tiny packs of baby wipes. Will keep thinking, I haven't sent a box in so long, and we've been lucky enough to always spend Christmas together...

My husband said a coffee mug and/or insulated cup. He mentioned candy too. We sent balloons that his guys filled with water and had a water balloon fight. A CD or thumb drive with you talking to him about ordinary everyday things. A love letter, paw prints. My husband said that anything that brings a bit of home to help give meaning to all the chaos. I published a post once about the importance of letters that my husband wrote. I'll have to see if I can dig it up because he was quite eloquent about it. Well, I'll have to sleep on any other ideas but I must say that the advice from Bette sounds like a GREAT idea. I will have to keep it in mind.

Last time my sweetie was deployed, my sister sent him a dozen mini Christmas stockings (those cheap furry ones) and a glitter pen, so he and his buddies could write their names and hang them. There were grown men fighting over these.

Now that I think about it, this isn't stockiing stuffer advice, it's stocking advice. Oops.

Things he can use but will make him think of you. Funky pens, a small notebook that you have attached a picture of you on the inside front and back covers. Homemade velcro blousing straps that have a message for him... (it's under his uniform, no one but him will see them) I can't remember all the things we came up with at the moment but I will ask him which ones he liked the best and get back to you.
