I agree with your post completely. I have several friends that have deployed and one recently KIA, but it's totally different when the person who is the keeper of your heart deploys. My fiance left the week before Christmas and it seems like these last few weeks have crawled. If I had a choice I would have slspt through the holidays as well. I know he wants me to keep busy and involved with my activities while he's away, as I'm sure yours does, but it's hard just the same. (((( Big Hugs)))) and I hope you got your hands on some impressive alcohol and quality chocolate!!

although my husband and I are together... we are in Souda Bay Greece and it just does not seem like Christmas without American capitalism and lots of shopping with the family!

I hate when people make comments like, the time will fly by. One of my friends actually told me I shouldn't be worried or upset because statistically we are more likely to be killed in a car accident than they are in combat. She said, she should worry about her husband commuting more than I should worry about my boyfriend in Afghanistan. My reply was, You can call and check on him. I get one phone call a week if I am lucky, usually under five minutes, that also gets cut off before we say goodbye often. The insensitivity of people kills me sometimes.

First - cyber hug, cyber chocolate and cyber alcohol headed your way.
Second, time always flies for people that aren't going through your deployment. It's so much easier for them say it will pass quickly b/c they don't live the day to day hell that we do.

Someone told me that pregnancy was like deployment. A bunch of well intentioned people saying to absolutel worst things possible and irritating you to tears in the process.

Except I got called a miserable super bitch for saying basically the same thing you just did.

I can say with all honesty I know exactly how you feel, and I don't fault you for ANYTING you feel or say. Deployments are hard and bring up human emotions we were never meant to deal with. And things we never had felt before.

Have some liquor and chocolate for me would you?
